Greenspark road project delayed for months
Patrys Street near Greenspark Primary still incomplete as Merafong Municipality cites ongoing work
Five months after a contractor of the Merafong City Local Municipality started to fix a street in Greenspark the work is not yet completed.
Patrys Street sits next to Greenspark Primary School but remains closed to cars.
Only small sections of the road are paved while the rest is still gravel.
Residents previously complained that although a municipal contractor started at the site in November last year, they left before the work was done.
Although the contractor has since removed the heaps of rotting grass and weeds they had left at the site, the area is still unsafe.
Large pools of water form on the gravel every time it rains.
The Herald again asked the municipality’s marketing and communications manager, Temba Fezani, about the problems.
The municipality says the contractor is still on site to finish work in Greenspark and Kokosi.
Fezani confirmed that Patrys Street is the last road waiting to be completed.
However, workers are not always at the site to move the project forward.
