Missing Khutsong pensioner found deceased as search continues for another elderly resident
The family of 80-year-old Francis “Oom France” Magwaza has received closure after his body was found near Blybank, while 70-year-old Nkadimeng Isaac Masilo remains missing nearly two years later.
The search for an elderly man who went missing from his home in Khutsong came to an unfortunate end last week.
Francis Magwaza, an 80-year-old known to many as “Oom France,” went missing from his home near the ZCC Church in Khayalethu on March 25.
His daughter first noticed he was gone when she arrived home from work.
Family members and concerned residents had been searching for him ever since.
According to a relative, Magwaza’s body was discovered next to the road to Randfontein near Blybank on May 27.
We extend our condolences to his family. Unfortunately, there is still no news regarding another Khutsong pensioner who went missing under similar circumstances.
Nkadimeng Isaac Masilo (70) left his home at no. 4975 on June 29, 2024, and has not been seen since.
When he left, he was wearing red and black pyjamas and brown slippers.
Masilo’s family stated that he walked out without saying anything.
Although his granddaughter ran after him to try to stop him, he appeared aggressive, forcing her to turn back without him.
This was not the first time such an incident had occurred, but on previous occasions, Masilo returned home the following day after apparently sleeping in the veld.
This behaviour, combined with the fact that he had been acting strangely and had forgotten his youngest daughter, led the family to suspect that he might be starting to suffer from dementia.
Anyone with any information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Kenalemang Mokatsane, on 078 446 8954.
