‘It always seems impossible until it’s done.’ Clement Menzi, an ambitious 25-year-old from Kokosi, quotes the late Nelson Mandela as he looks back on his recent successes. Clement is an entrepreneur who designs T-shirts aimed at young people around Kokosi. His main goal is to one day own his own successful clothing brand and expand internationally. At the moment, Clement isfocusing on T-shirt printing, graphic design, logo design and creating job opportunities in his community. The young designer is passionate about the clothing industry and always has been. While he was growing up, he loved to exchange ideas with people who shared the same interests as he did. Clement has designed for three major local brands in South Africa but, because they did not share the same vision as he did, it motivated him to start his own brand. In five years’ time, Clement sees himself as the owner of five major shops based in Potchefstroom, Fochville, Vanderbijlpark, Pretoria and Johannesburg. His dream is also to collaborate with Thabiso Dube – the owner of the well-known Galxboy label – who is also in the clothing industry. Clement also has advice for those who look up to him and see him as a role model. ‘Pray. Prayer is key. Work hard and don’t ever allow anybody or your circumstances to define you.’ Anyone who would like a T-shirt designed by Clement Menzi can call or WhatsApp him on 076 759 0697. Alternatively, visit him at 3372 Ramaphosa Street, Fochville – Kokosi or send him an email at clementmenzi2@gmail.com.
