Two men were found dead in Khutsong’s Joe Slovo informal settlement on 5 January. A case of inquest was opened initially but, after extensive investigation, it was later registered as a murder case. The lifeless bodies of the two victims were found hanging in two different shacks in the squatter camp. The victims are believed to be gold smugglers. Although police suspect that group of zama-zamas was allegedly involved in the incident and some have been arrested on other charges, no arrests have yet been made on the two murders.
