YOU may have seen a few blue signs with “Sky City” printed on them as you drove through town. These advertised the opening of Royal Schools Sky City, which took place on May 30.

The school, which is in Garthdale AH (close to Eikenhof), is now officially open to learners from four to 15 years of age. The first Grade 12 class is expected to matriculate from Sky City in 2021.

The littlest learners had prepared a short Zulu dance routine for the occasion and brought smiles to the faces of everyone present.

Some of the older learners who had formed a glee singing group gave a pleasant performance, singing and swaying to some gospel and pop songs.

THE CAKE: This gorgeous cake was prepared in celebration of the school’s launch.

Before the conclusion of the event, the national anthem was sung. Then, one of the little dancers ceremoniously cut a ribbon to symbolise the opening of the school to the audience. Thereafter, the colourful cake was cut and everyone received a celebratory cupcake.
