GALLERY: How would you spend the money if you won the Powerball?
CHRONICLE was curious to find out whether community members would take their chances in playing the Powerball, and how they’d spend the money if they won.
MORNÉ VAN WYK: “Imagine that! I would put at least 60 per cent of my winnings into investment accounts. I’d use the rest to pay off debt and maybe buy a house. I’d quit my job and live off of my interest rates.”
AFTER two Lotto / Powerball stakes, which in Rand reached up all the way into the hundred millions (a new record!), was won, CHRONICLE was curious to find out whether community members would take their chances in playing the Powerball, and how they’d spend the money if they won any lotto jackpot. Here’s what they had to say.
TIQUE TWOCO: “I’d play for sure. After winning all that money, I would donate a lot of it to my favourite charities. I would also donate to Asia House that makes superior sushi and I would become a ninja.”
MARTIN MOYO: “If the odds were in my favour and I won the Powerball, I would buy a house for my children and I would buy myself a van. If I could, I would move back to Zimbabwe where I’m from.”
GENEVIEVE TWOCO: “I would play and, if I won, I’d give all my winnings to my mother, Mona. She is the kindest, most generous person I know who always puts other people above herself.”
SARAH DEWES: “After playing and winning, I would buy an open piece of land where people can just come hang out. Everything would be free on my land and people would have immunity to getting in trouble.”
