GALLERY: Our Lady of Lebanon in Liefde en Vrede celebrates Holy Week

A special healing Mass was celebrated by Fr Georges Arrouk, parishioners were anointed with the oil of the sick and oil was available to take home.

OURLady of Lebanon in Liefde en Vrede  celebrated Holy Week, beginning with a Palm Sunday morning mass, which ended with a procession led by a young Jesus on a mare around the church grounds. Parish priest Father Jean Yammine celebrated mass assisted by Father Jean Younes, who was visiting from Lebanon.

Father Younes, superior of Cadmous College in Lebanon, was one of the guest speakers at evening mass, speaking about Jesus, King of all Kings, with each evening covering a different attribute of the character of Jesus.

A special healing Mass was celebrated by Father Georges Arrouk, parishioners were anointed with the oil of the sick and oil was available to take home. Mass was well attended.

On Holy Thursday 12 assistants to the Maronite Church were chosen to represent the disciples and at the end of Mass the precious body of Christ was moved to the temple of repose in the chapel by way of a procession around the church.

On the morning of Good Friday parishioners climbed a hill opposite the church with a cross and the afternoon service they were invited to lay their hands on the casket where Jesus’ crucified body lay.

All the services were well attended and Holy week was commemorated by all.
