GALLERY: Laurette Marais leaves a lasting impact on her community

Laurette got involved with the Mrs Africa Classique Pageant to use it as a platform to reach out to and positively impact the lives of those in her community.

ON May 17, Laurette Marais, Mrs Africa Globe Classique 2019, hosted a golf day in aid of Amcare and the Teddy Bear Foundation at Glenvista Country Club.

“I’m supporting these charities and reaching out to the vulnerable. I’m here to show people what we can do, and to give people hope where there is none with the money that I am going to raise today,” said Laurette.

The day consisted out of 18 holes of golf, a buffet gala dinner and prize-giving, a raffle and an auction of unique sporting memorabilia from some of South Africa’s great sporting icons, including Gary Player.

Laurette got involved with the Mrs Africa Classique Pageant to use it as a platform to reach out to and positively impact the lives of those in her community.

As her journey continues she has big plans. “I’m going to Palm Springs in California for Mrs Globe Classique, where I will be representing Africa. I’ve had a wonderful journey so far. I work a lot in my community and I also let my community help me. What inspired me was to uplift and empower women, children and the most vulnerable. I want to make an impact in my community and in people’s lives,” she said.

Laurette is the proud mother of three children and has been married to her husband Johann for the past 28 years. Her family and friends have been a huge support in her journey in becoming Mrs Africa Globe Classique 2019. She is hands on and grateful to have been put in a position where she can make a genuine difference.

“I’m incredibly privileged to do this and I enjoy every moment.”

Laurette wishes to thank all the sponsors in support of her cause.
