Blue Pea Country Market’s mission

The founder and organiser, Charlene Moutinho, is passionate about small local businesses and helping people uplift themselves.

“The whole idea behind the market is to create a place where entrepreneurs of small businesses can sell their own produce or creations to the local community and thereby build our local economy.

“We believe that charity starts at home, and therefore we should support our own local farmers, business people, chefs and artists. Our slogan being: #local_Is_Lekke!

“We are proudly South African and we welcome each and every person who has the guts to start his own business, no matter in which industry it may fall. We are there to support and uplift our own community. Our passion is to help you live yours.

“In this age of rampant unemployment, we want to help people get up and create their own. We believe that small businesses are the answer to the unemployment issue in our country.”

Their vision

“We would like to obtain our own building where we can move part of the market indoors.

“Our vision is to start a skills development centre where we can teach various skills and then give the trainees the opportunity to sell their products and produce to the local community who supports our market.

“Once we have our own building, we will be able to trade every day instead of just on Saturday mornings.

“The vision includes the opening of a One-Stop Business Service Shop to provide the services to the small businesses we work with who may not be able to afford to employ a full-time person.

“We want to help entrepreneurs of new small businesses who just need the assistance to make the whole process of starting their own business a little easier. We’ll also help them grow their business so they can employ more people and make a real change in the unemployment crisis in our beautiful country,” said Charlene.
