GALLERY: A spooky evening at The Green

HALLOWEEN at The Green, held on November 2, was superbly spooky with people and pets dressed in all sorts of frightening Halloween costumes.

Organiser of the event Councillor Sarah Wissler wanted to create a safe place for parents and children to celebrate Halloween and have a lot of fun.

She partnered with the Glenvista New South Resident’s Association (GANSRA), The Green and The Glenvista Country Club to organise the evening. Sponsors were Mall of the South, Gold Reef City, The Green, Allegiance and KW South.

The aim was to turn The Green into a haunted house for children to play in. A walk was mapped out on the golf course, with people hiding behind trees

They also had a cemetery with all sorts of scary things happening inside. This community event has been going since 2013, but the venue was moved to The Green for the first time this year.

“Since 2013, the event has become a bit of an institution. People want to do things where they can get out and it’s safe for their kids to run around. This event is purely about community,” Wissler added.

The money raised from the event goes to a charity that they will choose at a later stage. She is grateful for the community’s support. It was a well-attended and fun-filled event indeed.
