Wounded armed response officer discharged from hospital

It's a miracle... James Moloi is alive.

JAMES Moloi, a D&D Tactical armed response officer who was shot on Friday September 13 in Glenvista, has made a good recovery and was discharged from Netcare Union Hospital, Alberton on Monday afternoon September 16.

Moloi was shot by a suspect in the leg and shoulder, “Thankfully the bullet to his shoulder lodged in his bullet proof vest,” said Anton Bekker from D&D Tactical Security.

On hearing about Maloi being shot while on duty, Glenvista ext 5 residents and others from surrounding areas, decided they wanted to do something to help him and his family and collected money and groceries. “The community have been fabulous,” said Sarah Wissler from Glenvista Ext 5 Resident’s Association. “Residents dropped off monetary and grocery donations at my house and together with D&D Tactical response officers and staff, we took all the donations to James while he was in hospital. He also received a framed certificate for bravery.

Bekker said, “We are very proud of James and really happy he is okay and recovering well. This could have ended very differently. His vehicle was shot at 14 times. It’s a miracle he survived to tell the tale.”

Moloi told the CHRONICLE, “I thought my time was up. It’s a scary feeling being shot at over and over again. God was definitely with me that day.”
