Law enforcement intercepts cloned vehicle linked to robbery activities on R82

A coordinated law enforcement operation led to the interception of a cloned vehicle allegedly linked to residential robberies on the R82 near Eikenhof, resulting in the arrest of a male driver after false number plates and a fake licence disc were discovered.

A man has been arrested for fraud after a cloned vehicle allegedly linked to residential robbery activities was intercepted by law enforcement officers on the R82 between the R550 and R557 near Eikenhof.

According to Midvaal Law Enforcement, officers received a sniper alert about a suspicious vehicle travelling northbound on the R82.

The vehicle was reportedly suspected of being involved in residential robberies.

Law enforcement units responded swiftly and managed to stop the vehicle before conducting a search.

Officers found that the vehicle had been fitted with false registration plates and a fake licence disc. During the search, the vehicle’s original registration plates were allegedly discovered hidden in the boot.

The vehicle was occupied by one male driver and two female passengers at the time of the interception.

The driver was arrested and charged with fraud, while the two female passengers were profiled and later released.

The vehicle was seized and booked in as evidence for further investigation.

Midvaal Law Enforcement praised the coordinated response by the various agencies involved in the operation, describing it as a successful example of collaboration in combating crime.

The operation involved members from the Fox Security, Mondeor SAPS, Midvaal Law Enforcement Unit, Midvaal CCTV, Belrex, Midvaal Peace Officers, Carbine Security and the JMPD.
