HARVEST Christian School staff and students received a number of awards in recognition of their achievements through the year at the Gauteng District D11 Annual Sport Awards on Saturday, November 25.
Kay Stow received a lifetime award for her dedication to sport in the South. The passionate administrator and sports lover has managed and coordinated athletics, netball, soccer and chess with great success over the years, reinstating various committees to uplift these sporting codes in D11.
Lauren du Toit was awarded Top Administrator of the Year for her efforts in putting primary school netball in the district back on the map. She has organised all netball trials and leagues for the past three years, enabling Harvest School girls and girls from other schools to participate at a higher level.
Precious Ezibuike received third place in the category Female Athlete of the Year for representing Harvest and District D11 at the Gauteng Championships, where she won the bronze medal in the 60m sprint.
Harvest Christian School was also named Best Sport Primary School for 2017.
“This is due our commitment to enhance sport for all in the South, a collective effort by management and staff to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate at well organised events,” said Taryn Clarke, an administrator at the school.
Harvest hosted the first ever Cluster Athletics meeting for D11 at the Herman Immelman Stadium in Germiston in January, and also hosted all netball trials as well as various netball and soccer league matches during the year.
