CREED Entertainment aims to take the South by storm

CREED is already a well-known hip-hop dance crew, both nationally and internationally.

A BRAND new hip-hop dance studio, CREED Entertainment, opened in Panorama Shopping Centre recently. For community members who like to dance or simply be active, this studio looks very promising.

CREED is already a well-known hip-hop dance crew, both nationally and internationally. However, CREED has been relaunched with a new look, studio and brand identity. This studio in Panorama Shopping Centre is brand new, with dance classes officially starting on March 6.

CREED was founded in 2012 by Mike ‘MGL’ Lamfel (dancer, choreographer, entrepreneur and economics graduate) and Clarence Ndlovu. Other members of the CREED team include Dion ‘Big D’ van der Merwe (ex-senior career banker and entrepreneur), Theo Mashifana (dancer, choreographer and engineer graduate) and Chayn Thompson (dancer and businesswoman).

This studio is inclusive and accepting of all races, ages, cultures and backgrounds. It is a result of skills and companionship between its members, who are all from very different backgrounds, age and racial groups. However, each of these members shares a common goal and passion for what they do.

It has the long-term goal of positively developing the youth, or any person for that matter, through dance, fitness, discipline, respect and determination.

STEP UP: Mike gives a class for youngsters, teaching them the basics for a hip-hop dance routine.

Happy and active children

They view hip-hop dancing not only as one dance style but also as an art form and sport. CREED also wishes to provide individuals with a sense of escape from whatever problems they may be experiencing through togetherness, friendship, encouragement and support.

Mike elaborated: “CREED can proudly say that it has shared stages and featured in music videos with several familiar international celebrities and artists over the past few years. However, hip-hop dancing is much more recognised in other countries than it is here, even though it provides people with much more than mere dancing skills.

“Children keep active and happy through dancing and we believe this is a much better hobby than staring at screens all day, for example,” Mike added.

“CREED’s dream is to grow and spread all across the South, giving back to the youth. To make it possible, though, we need a lot more support from the community.”

CREED members all agree that what is admittedly a humble beginning for them is undoubtedly a small stepping stone to bigger things.

Whether it’s becoming a part of CREED Dance Academy or CREED Crew (Crew focuses specifically on street dancing), anybody is welcome to join and begin their hip-hop dance adventure.
