City Power schedules planned maintenance at prospect substation

Residents in Bassonia, Rosettenville, Turffontein and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for scheduled outages linked to planned work at Prospect Substation.

City Power has announced scheduled maintenance at Prospect Substation that will result in power interruptions for several Johannesburg suburbs on May 18. According to the utility, the first interruption is planned from 11:30 to 14:30 and will affect customers in Bassonia, Rosettenville, Turffontein Switching, Rosettenville Standby, Market No.1, 2, 4, City Deep Ext 29 Standby, Jascho, The Hill, Roseacre, Regents Park, and The Hill Extension. A second interruption at the same substation is scheduled from 11:00 to 14:00, impacting Gleneask, Klipriviersberg, Turffontein South, and Rosettenville South. In a separate update, City Power listed areas experiencing outages, including Kenilworth Extension, The Glen Number 1 and 2, Glenesk/Stafford Standby, Turffontein Number 1, 2 and 3, Oakdene Ext 12 Number 1, Haddon, Linmeyer, Forest Hill, Kenilworth, South Hills, Tulisa Park, Townsville, and Linmeyer West. Residents in the affected areas are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live during the maintenance period.
