Smiles brighten as local dentist and npo join hands

Dentist celebrates National Children’s Day by joining hands with the j29 Community Care organisation.

On a beautiful sunlit morning in November, Dr Shené Breytenbach, owner and founder of Dentology – The Gentle Dental Studio, celebrated National Children’s Day by joining hands with j29 Community Care NPO.

This NPO gives vulnerable children and orphans hope and a future by providing ongoing practical support to assist them with their development.

“The event was held at Dentology’s newly renovated premises in Michelle Avenue in Randhart where they hosted this spectacularly special day which saw much-needed dental services being provided pro bono to 15 children within j29’s care network, but more specifically, from child-headed households,” said Breytenbach.

Staff members entertained children with games.

The day was supported by numerous staff, friends and family from both Dentology and j29, who all worked together effectively to ensure that the children received the necessary dental services throughout the day while guaranteeing that all Covid-19 safety regulations were adequately adhered to.

Amid the various dental appointments, the children were thoroughly entertained with a series of laughter filled games, a jumping castle, sports activities, plenty of food and beverages.

“The purpose of the dental day was not only to attend to the children’s immediate dental needs, but also to showcase and demonstrate the difference that can be made to a child’s life by offering one’s time and services. There is no greater joy in the world than giving back to those in dire need,” said Breytenbach.

It was a fun filled day for everyone.

The children were also spoiled with small gifts of kindness, including soccer balls to those teenage boys who were seen to be especially fond of the game.

“These brave little angels saw an abundant of X-rays taken, cavities filled, teeth extracted and oral health renewed. Lives were certainly changed, one healthy smile at a time,” Breytenbach concluded.
