Child Protection Hotline adds the South of Joburg

If you suspect any abuse in the area feel free to either phone the Glenvista or Rosettenville Child Protection Hotline’s on 079 072 5144 or 079 095 2498.

Glenvista and Rosettenville were recently added to the ever-growing list of the Child Protection Hotline when the organisation opened its doors on December 14.

The opening happened at Door of Hope in Glenvista and Townsview Primary School, with members of the Mondeor SAPS, Praesidium Securitas and bikers from the Crusaders Motorcycle club attending.

The founder of Child Protection Hotline, Danie van Loggrenberg, said: “When we started the first Child Protection Hotline in 2019, Glenvista was already on our list as an area. Not only because we love what Door of Hope does and offers to the most innocent babies, but because of the love and warmth we experience when we are there, and that was clear the first time we visited them with Toys for Africa a decade ago.

“We were joined at the launch by Capt Dube and Sgt Mnguni of Mondeor SAPS, as well as Loki Duvenhage from Praesidium Securitas and bikers from the Crusaders. We also had volunteers from our call centre that wanted to be a part of the day, as they are residents of Glenvista.

“Alicia van Wyk from Top Score Instant Porridge donated 100 packs of instant porridge to Door of Hope and Dayna Rowland, a volunteer in our call centre, donated knitted jerseys for the babies.

“We invite anyone that knows or suspects child abuse to contact our Glenvista Child Protection Hotline via phone call, Whatsapp or SMS on 079 072 5144.

“We are open to assist 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including public holidays. Together, we can make sure our children are safe. We aim to make child abuse history.

“The Rosettenville Child Protection Hotline was launched at Townsview Primary. As Covid was seeing soaring numbers again, we only did a quick handover and postponed our educational talk with the children to 2022.

“Top Score donated 1 000 instant porridge packs towards the school feeding scheme. When we did our research on the South of Joburg and what we could do for the children in the area, it became apparent that the children in Rosettenville needed assistance.

“Our national number received several reports on child abuse and neglect, as well as severe bullying happening in Rosettenville. Once we set a date for the Glenvista launch, it was an easy decision to also launch a number for Rosettenville.

“Our passion will always be to reach children in all the areas of South Africa. We are looking forward to our time with the children of Townsview Primary in 2022.”

Nadene Grabham, operations director of Door of Hope, said: “Ten years ago we met Danie from Toys for Africa when he came to donate toys to our baby home. Today, the Glenvista Child Protection Hotline launched from Door of Hope in Glenvista.

Toys for Africa has grown in leaps and bounds and Door of Hope Children’s Mission is honoured to partner with Danie and his team in the fight to protect our future generation. Together we can because every child matters. “

If you suspect any abuse in the area, either phone the Glenvista or Rosettenville Child Protection Hotline’s on 079 072 5144 or 079 095 2498
