Sarah Wissler made her goals for her time as chairperson for Governance in CoJ clear.
Local PR councillor for Action SA, Sarah Wissler has been elected as the chairperson for Governance in the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) during a recent siting.
The CHRONICLE recently caught up with Wissler to find out what the new job means to her.
“I was elected by the coalition government that was elected through the local elections that was held in November 2021. In total we have 17 committees ranging from sports to safety. My job is to do oversight over these committees and to ensure that everything gets done in the city,” said Wissler during the interview.
Wissler previous served as a committee head for safety for the CoJ in the previous governance in the city.
Wissler further said “The first big thing we need to focus on is getting the city up to standard. There are lots of irregularities when it came to various PPE tenders that we first need to look at with the National Prosecuting Authorities (NPA).
“The MMC for Transport, Funzela Ngobeni has already joined hands with various other departments to help ensure that potholes get fixed and the road areas are cleared of plant growth and any rubbish.
“We also have community-based planning (CBP) where we go the all the regions to find out the problems people face. After the CBP’s we drafted plans to make sure these problems get addressed.”
Wissler made her goals for her time as chairperson for Governance in CoJ clear, she wants to focus on the residents to ensure service delivery happens in all areas as well as showing people can have faith in the coalition government.
