Thabang wants businesses to give back to the community
Financial literacy is a great tool for everyone.
Thabang Motloung’s book, Unlocking Your Earning Potential With Microsoft Excel, is available at Glenanda Library thanks to Christina Close, the director of Love Jacaranda.
Motloung said Close not only believed in his vision of bringing together sports, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and big business together, she decided to make an investment into the southern community by making a donation of 10 books on the practical use of spreadsheets.
“And beyond that, she has also bought the book for each of her employees as a way to practically and financially equip them.
“Close and I have gone from me being her client to now having her supporting our vision as a friend. Love Jacaranda is a very successful eCommerce business that sells culture-rich South African blankets.

“It is a business she started as a side hustle while she worked as an executive at Vodacom, specialising in the digital economy. Above and beyond that, Wits Business School is doing a case study on her success in the digital economy.
“I intentionally chose to work with Close because her story as a working mother, who has successfully been able to transition from corporate into entrepreneurship, is relatable. So she is a wealth of knowledge.
“As if that was not enough, I also had the opportunity to meet and discuss my vision with Simphiwe Tshabalala, who is the CEO of Standard Bank Group. This is the biggest bank on the African continent.
“This is only the beginning of a greater value chain which will equip individuals to become active economic participants, especially among the youth. I have reached out to other companies such as Shoprite, who I am very certain will also come to the table and go beyond to give back by equipping their employees and community,” explained Thabang.
