SAPS shares a few tips to avoid theft from your vehicle in parking areas.
The tips are themed under ‘boot it or lose it’.
The tips are as follows:
• Avoid leaving anything valuable, not even loose change, inside your car where a passerby can see it.
• Before arriving at your location, lock the valuables you must leave in your car in the boot.
• Make sure all windows are up and always lock your doors when exiting your vehicle and while you are driving.
• Look around. Park in well-lit locations and be mindful of your surroundings, especially in parking lots and petrol stations.
“What you see isn’t necessarily what a thief sees. You see a few coins and a thief sees an opportunity,” the SAPS concluded.
