WATCH: 947 crew brings in live broadcast experience to Alberton High

Alberton High School had the best time with the morning show while receiving an inspiring live broadcast experience.

There were lots of cheer and good spirits when ‘The Blues’ excitedly welcomed Anele Mdoda and The Club on 947 at the school on March 7.

Learners and staff from Alberton High School had the best time ever as they rubbed shoulders with radio station 947’s Anele and The Club, who broadcasted live from 06:00 to 09:00 at the school hall.

The school’s choir also performed, followed by musical artist James Deacon, who also gave a live performance.
This opportunity was made possible by Brand South Africa’s Play Your Part initiative, which encourages every citizen to show off the ‘spirit of ubuntu’ (humanity).

The 947 School Invasion, in partnership with Brand South Africa, aims to inspire, encourage and celebrate active citizenship. Chosen schools include a variety of young individuals who have showcased how they ‘Play Their Part’ in their communities.

Endorsing a good spirit

The 947 crew started on March 6 with their school visits and will be visiting various schools throughout the week.
Matalane Ngobeni of Brand South Africa said Brand SA is mandated to promote South Africa – internationally and domestically.

Domestically, she said their mandate looks at building patriotism and social cohesion and making sure that South Africans unite to build the nation and safer communities.

“The partnership with 94.7 is an opportunity for us to bring the programme to a younger audience. We’re working with schools that have entered, telling us how they’re playing their part. We have chosen whichever school had a great submission,” she explained.

According to Ngobeni, the Play Your Part initiative has run for at least a decade.

She called on everyone to join their movement, by visiting their website Radio personality Frankie du Toit said they had a wonderful time at the school.

He said, “From the moment we got here, the mascot was out and the guys were already busy. They warmly welcomed us and we got to ring the bell. We could immediately see that the school spirit was sky-high.

“We haven’t done school invasions in a few years because of Covid-19 and this is the first year that we’re back,” said Du Toit.

He reiterated that they do five schools in a week, going across the whole of Gauteng.
