Visit D’s Hair Salon for best hair day

In 2007 Dorothy Monageng opened the doors to her hair salon on the corner of Rifle Range Road and Swartgoud Street, Ridgeway Mall.

Dorothy is a true businesswoman with vast knowledge in sales, customer service, marketing and business management.

She said her family is a supportive structure of her business, D’s Hair Salon. Her husband, a financial expert and tax analyst, also provides invaluable assistance.

“He also helps with the maintenance of the salon. My daughter, Karabi is a human resource specialist, and she also advises me on drafting contracts for employees.”

She started the salon with five employees but today she has boosted the workforce to 15. She’s a mother, sister and advisor to her employees.

“Most hair salons closed down post-Covid, which caused many lost jobs. This elevated poverty. How I wish the hair industry can be regulated so that government can assist.

“Lots of people don’t have jobs because they lack skills. I always encourage unemployed people to go for skill development, as they have their degrees but no jobs.

“The hair industry needs to support black manufacturing companies of hair products, so we can uplift one another. My wish is to see our government establishing hubs for skilled hair technicians so they can learn how to run their own businesses,” she said.
