Mulbarton restaurant murder case postponed to May 17

The incident happened on July 30, 2021, at Il Camino Italian Restaurant in Mulbarton.

The murder case against Daniel Rowland was postponed again on April 25 for transcripts.

It was postponed to May 17 at Booysens Magistrate’s Court.

On the last sitting, February 14, Rowland’s defence counsel Van Heerden asked the court for an application of the transcript of the case, because she felt the magistrate was not fair to them, and the manner she addressed them will jeopardise the outcome of the case. She also expressed that she wished Magistrate Habib to recuse herself from the case.

The application was not received hence the postponement. Prosecutor Mashobane told the court that they gave them two months to get their house in order. “We were ready then and we are ready now to continue with the case,” he said.

Habib said it took two months for the defence to inform the court that the application was not received and time had been wasted.

Rowland stands accused of injuring a woman in a restaurant after firing off a shot with his gun. The woman later died in the hospital. The incident happened on July 30, 2021, at Il Camino Italian Restaurant in Mulbarton.
His bail was extended.
