Car hijacked in Soweto recovered in Ridgeway

The police thank the community for working together with them.

Johannesburg Flying Squad (JFS) members arrested 10 suspects in the Johannesburg area and recovered four unlicensed firearms and ammunition and two hijacked and stolen vehicles, from April 19 to 29.

On April 19, JFS received information about suspects that were committing a truck hijacking in Leondale.

Members proceeded to the address, where four suspects with three firearms were arrested. Two 9mm Glocks, one 9mm Girson and a White Ford bakkie that was stolen in Wonderboompoort were recovered.

All suspects were subsequently placed under arrest and detained at Alberton SAPS for possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of a stolen vehicle

On April 26, members received information about suspects that were on the way to commit a murder. Members proceeded to Fairview and on arrival, four suspects were searched and a 9mm Norinco firearm with numbers filed off was recovered.

All suspects were placed under arrest for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and detained at Jeppe SAPS.

A Silver VW Golf that was hijacked in Soweto was recovered in Ridgeway and booked at Aeroton SAP 13.

JFS communications officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues and all suspects appeared in court.
