WATCH: 4 suspects shot dead after liquor store robbery in Alberton
Police chased after the suspects, but they opened fire on officers along the N12 near Voortrekker Road.
A business robbery at Dog Box Liquor Store on Kritzinger Avenue in Verwoerdpark, Alberton, ended in a deadly shootout between suspects and police on April 7.
According to City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, five suspects fled the scene in a silver Renault Triber.
They travelled along Kritzinger Avenue, joined the N3 northbound, and then took the N12 west at the Elands Interchange.

Police gave chase, but the suspects began shooting at officers while on the N12 near Voortrekker Road.
Police returned fire, fatally wounding four of the suspects during the gun battle.
One of the suspects was shot in the leg during the exchange and was later transported to Thelle Mogoerane Hospital by a Netcare ambulance for medical attention.
Police investigations are ongoing.
