Rape case in Mondeor sees another delay
A maintenance worker accused of raping a Grade Two learner will remain in limbo as the Booysens Magistrate’s Court postpones the case for the seventh time.
A male maintenance worker at Dalmondeor Primary School in Mondeor was arrested regarding rape allegations involving a Grade Two learner at the school.
The incident reportedly occurred on May 21 on the school grounds.
The case resumed in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on October 15.
The matter had already been postponed in August and on September 8 because the investigating officer (IO) could not assess the victim and compile a full report, as the victim was busy with school exams.
The victim was eventually located, and the assessment process could proceed.
Prosecuting attorney Israel told Magistrate Habib that the investigating officer had only conducted the initial consultation with the victim and that further consultations were needed before the assessment could be completed.
Habib expressed frustration at the fact that the IO had enough time to complete this process and yet still needed more time.
Habib reluctantly postponed the case for the seventh time for the victim assessment report to be completed.
“The case will be remanded to October 29,” said Habib.
