Traffic lights suspect behind bars in Katlehong

A tip-off led officers to a Katlehong residence where several traffic-related items and personal documents were recovered, resulting in an arrest.

A recent operation by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Cable Theft Unit, in collaboration with Gauteng Traffic Police, has led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man for possession of stolen traffic lights.

Officers were on patrol when they received a tip-off about an individual allegedly in possession of traffic lights.

Acting on the information, officers proceeded to a residence in Binda Street in the Credi section.

Upon arrival, the suspect was found in possession of five traffic lights, as well as three South African identity documents and three driver’s licences that did not belong to him.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and detained at Katlehong Police Station.

He is facing charges of possession of stolen property and is expected to appear before the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
