Operation yields positives in Moffat View precinct
Officials from JMPD, EMS, CPF and the City of Johannesburg conducted a weekend enforcement operation aimed at addressing crime and non-compliance in the precinct.
Positive outcomes at the Citizen Relationship and Urban Management (CRUM) operation in Moffat View precinct, which took place over the weekend of May 9, starting from 18:00 on Saturday until 02:00 on Sunday.
Sipho Hlatshwayo, Sector 1 PRO, and Moffat View CPF deputy chairperson, said this was a successful operation because it addressed lawlessness in the area. “We dealt with liquor outlets, pavement trading, bylaws violations and roadworthiness of vehicles, to name a few.
“Of those who took part in this operation were the CPF members, JMPD, private security companies, EMS and City of Joburg officials. It was a success in that heavy fines were issued to some of these non-complying liquor outlets and some goods were also confiscated.
“The message is clear in that if you violate the bylaws, we are coming for you. This talks to an initiative from the Moffat View Police Station’s CPF called Khuluma Makhelwane. We are encouraging members of the community within the Moffat View Police Station precinct to join the CPF. The CPF is an integral part of crime prevention, as it is the eyes and ears of the police. Let’s bring change in our areas,” explained Hlatshwayo.
