Nahrul Hayah Pre-school hosts inaugural Anas bin Malik Concert
Learners were gifted small prayer mats (musallas).
Nahrul Hayah Pre-school hosted its first-ever preschool concert, showcasing learners’ achievements and performances of favourite Islamic songs on November 24.
The event began with learners reciting short Quranic passages related to the themes covered during the year.
This reflected the school’s mission of providing a high-quality education rooted in the Quran, focusing on recitation, memorisation, understanding, and instilling a deep love for the Book of Allah.
Learners were dressed in white graduation gowns, with female learners gifted white hijabs and male learners donning the Sunnah imamah (turban).

Mawlana Ahmed Bhyat explained, “The tradition of graduation gowns is said to date back to the 11th century when students from across the world travelled to Andalusia, then the hub of learning under Muslim rule. They returned wearing flowing garments, reflecting the attire of their Muslim educators, as symbols of the knowledge and prestige they gained.”
The event has since been renamed the Anas bin Malik Concert in honour of a young companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was entrusted by his mother to serve and study under him.

Mawlana Ahmed Bhyat elaborated, “Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) represents a trust, as his mother handed him to the Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) for education and refinement. Similarly, parents entrust us with their children to nurture and refine them during the academic year.”
As part of the graduation, learners were also gifted small prayer mats (musallas). This symbolic gesture reflects the prophetic guidance to encourage children to perform the five daily prayers from the age of seven and make it a routine by the age of ten, reminding them of the immense blessing of Salah.
