Icarus Media wins prestigious award

Local entrepreneur and CEO of Icarus Media, Tandi Potgieter, has again showcased her leadership in the digital marketing landscape.

Her company was recognised as the best social media and influencer marketing company in South Africa at the prestigious African Excellence Awards.

The African Excellence Awards celebrate businesses and individuals, making a remarkable impact across the continent.

Icarus Media’s win highlights its innovative approach to social media and influencer marketing, setting new standards for engagement, creativity, and brand impact.

Under Potgieter’s leadership, Icarus Media has built a strong reputation for creating digital narratives and influencer collaborations that captivate audiences and elevate brands.

Beyond her role as CEO, Potgieter is a passionate advocate for female empowerment. As communications director of the Woman of Stature Awards South Africa, she plays a key role in the prestigious 10th annual Woman of Stature Awards Gala Dinner, taking place on April 12 at the Indaba Hotel.

This event will honour over 130 of South Africa’s most talented and influential women across multiple industries.

Potgieter will serve as an adjudicator in three out of fourteen categories namely, woman in media, woman in beauty and fashion, and woman in arts and culture, alongside industry experts and celebrities, including the reigning Miss World South Africa, Mrs South Africa, Nicole Capper, Kovini Moodley, and auditors MGI RAS.

Further demonstrating her commitment to empowering women, Potgieter is also co-director of the Mrs Soweto Female Empowerment Programme, alongside CEO and founder Tshegofatso Mathe.

Mrs Soweto, sponsored by Group1 Renault The Glen, takes place on March 15 at the Soweto Theatre, celebrating and uplifting women.

In addition, Potgieter will host brand-building workshops with Kovini Moodley and Marika Opperman, with the first workshop scheduled for March 29.

A dynamic start to the year

It has been an exciting start to the year for Potgieter. She appears on Gesels with Leandie du Randt on March 1 on VIA TV at 18:00, discussing 2025 colour trends on behalf of her client, Versus Paint.

She will also feature on SABC 1’s The Chair, where presenter Madelein Smit assists in finding an outstanding marketing intern for Icarus Media.

Additionally, Potgieter will be part of the upcoming season of Ster Status on E-TV, sharing her social media expertise with the finalists and guiding them on leveraging digital platforms for success.

Winning the African Excellence Award further cements Icarus Media’s position as an industry leader, showcasing its ability to adapt to the ever-evolving digital space while delivering exceptional value to clients.
