Youth Day sports event to unite community against crime in La Rochelle
Corinthians to host June 16 event using sports to build trust between residents and law enforcement while promoting safety and empowerment.
The Corinthians will host a Sports Against Crime Youth Day event on June 16 from 09:00, corner 11th Street and Forest Road, La Rochelle.
The event’s purpose is to bridge the gap between law enforcement agencies and the community. Using sports as a unifying platform will foster collaboration, trust, and proactive engagement in addressing social challenges and crime prevention in the community.
There will be blind soccer, netball, indigenous games, soccer, kids games and e-sports.
Objectives:
1. Inform and educate: Provide the community with knowledge about available social services and resources.
2. Promote safety: Encourage a culture of safety, responsibility, and mutual respect within the community.
3. Serve the community: Offer support services and engagement opportunities that cater to the needs of community members.
4. Equip with knowledge: Empower individuals with information to make informed decisions about their well-being and safety.
5. Form partnerships: Strengthen relationships between stakeholders and community members to combat social ills collectively.
They are also calling all entrepreneurs to this event, as stands will be available at R150. No alcohol or forbidden substances will be permitted on the premises.
