Hoërskool Die Fakkel hosts successful blood donor drive

High School in South Hills hosts a blood donor drive, giving learners the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives.

Hoërskool Die Fakkel in South Hills, hosted a blood donor drive at the school on March 3, providing learners with the opportunity to donate blood and make a positive impact on their community.

The event was a huge success, with learners eager to roll up their sleeves and donate.

Before donating, learners underwent a thorough health check to ensure they were eligible to give blood. Parents were also required to provide consent for their children to participate. Once cleared, learners were able to donate blood, which will be used to help patients in need.

“The blood donor drive was an excellent way for learners to give back to their community and make a difference in the lives of others,” said Die Fakkel principal, Morgan Radebe.

By donating blood, learners were able to help patients undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatment, or suffering from blood disorders.

The event also served as an educational opportunity for learners, teaching them about the importance of blood donation and the impact it has on saving lives.

The South Africa National Blood Service hopes that the event will inspire learners to become regular blood donors and encourage others to do the same.
