Career day opens doors for Marist Brothers Linmeyer learners

Marist Brothers Linmeyer hosted a career day featuring representatives from some of the country's top higher learning institutions.

Learners from Marist Brothers Linmeyer had the opportunity to explore different career fields at this year’s career day event on March 3.

Different top universities and colleges such as the University of Pretoria, University of North West, University of Johannesburg, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Free State, Varsity College, and Eduvos encouraged learners from grades 11 and 12 to apply early so as to secure a spot for the 2026 academic year.

Representatives from these different universities informed learners about the enrolment application processes and university life.

Dr Leone Michaels from the University of Johannesburg said the university has seven faculties and one college of business and economics.

“The university does not only focus on academics but also sports and cultural opportunities for the learners. UJ is an internationally acclaimed institution with partnerships across the globe with institutions such as the University of China, University of Standford, Haward University and many more,” said Michaels.

The event was important as it gave learners the chance to make informed decisions about their future careers.
Some learners already had an idea of what they wanted to study.

Gabriella Way said that she is interested in actuarial science or anything that involves economics and mathematics.
