“I thank all the learners, their families, and the Alberton Lions Club for their generosity. Your contributions have made a meaningful difference in the lives of the elderly.

“We chose to visit the old age homes because we wanted the elderly to feel special. Sadly, they are often the forgotten group in society, and we wanted to remind them that they matter,” said Makhubo.

The gesture was well-received by the seniors, with one resident sharing her appreciation: “I am thankful for the soup and socks. It’s such a kind gesture. My mother always told me, ‘If you are not happy with the little, you will never be happy with a lot,’ and this donation means a lot to us. It shows that someone cares.”

As part of the handover, the learners also wrote letters to the grandmothers and grandfathers at the homes. During the visit, they read their letters aloud, sharing warm words of encouragement and love.
