JMPD tightens grip on scholar transport in Johannesburg South
High traffic volumes and major transport routes came under scrutiny as JMPD officers enforced traffic laws in Johannesburg South.
JMPD officers recently conducted a Scholar Transport Safety Operation in Region F, focusing on the Springfield, City Deep, Turffontein, and Rosettenville areas in Johannesburg South.
These areas connect to the N17 and form part of a busy industrial and commercial hub with high traffic volumes and major transport routes.
During the operation, several vehicles were impounded after drivers were found to be in violation of traffic laws.
Offences included expired licence discs, driving without a valid driver’s licence, failure to wear seat belts, and operating vehicles with damaged windscreens.
Other traffic-related contraventions were also recorded. In total, 52 citations were issued, generating R37 900 in fines.
The revenue collected will be reinvested to improve city services and strengthen road safety initiatives.
