The United Cerebral Palsy Association (UCPA) of SA held its AGM on February 7 in Townsview.
Chairperson Koos van der Schyff spoke about tough times regarding funding for organisations like UCPA of SA.
“We thank our director, Marie van der Berg, and her team for keeping the organisation afloat. We don’t know what the government’s plans are for these types of organisations.
“We must try to self-fund UCPA of SA, starting with fixing the electricity. The staff are doing a fantastic job, and we are grateful for their efforts,” he said.
Van der Berg mentioned that the previous family days were successful, and they plan to hold one this year. Van der Schyff thanked Celeste Pereira from Rotary Club Johannesburg South 101 for their input in the organisation.
After the adoption of the financial statement, there was no amendment to the Constitution. The house agreed that more awareness needs to be raised for the community and funders to know more about the UCPA of SA.
