Rietvlei Parkrun tops global attendance charts with 1 278 participants

With an impressive 1 278 participants on February 7, the Rietvlei parkrun has taken the top spot in global attendance.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the event, solidifying its position as one of the largest and most popular parkruns worldwide.

Rietvlei parkrun, like any other, is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event that welcomes walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers, and spectators of all ages and abilities.

The event takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at Rietvlei Zoo Farm in Johannesburg south.

“We’re thrilled to see such a huge turnout at Rietvlei parkrun,” says Amy Bery, coordinator of parkrun at Rietvlei.

“It’s not just about the running; it’s about community, friendships, and the sense of achievement. We’re proud to be part of something that’s making a difference in people’s lives,” she continued.

Parkrun is a global movement that aims to get people active and engaged in their local communities.
