Pressies spirit shines despite Inter High cancellation

Rain could not wash away the unity, pride and determination that define Hoërskool President.

Excitement filled Hoërskool President as it prepared to host the inter high. Learners practised for weeks, and the community looked forward to a day of pride and competition.

Unfortunately, the weather turned against them, and the event was cancelled. Despite the uncertainty leading up to the announcement, the supporters made their way to the pavilion and began singing and dancing. Dressed in blue, they stood united and determined to keep the Pressies spirit alive.

When it was finally communicated that the event had been cancelled, the supporters asked if they could still perform their routine and war cries, even without an audience.

Their request was granted.

The Pressies’ spirit shines brightly as learners gather at the pavilion.

School principal Quintes de Lange praised the learners for their resilience.

“Although the weather disappointed us, our learners showed character, proving that the Pressies spirit is not dependent on a scoreboard or a crowd.”

Standing behind the learners were the school staff and the team from RocoMamas Southgate, and their manager, Tshepo, as they supported the school. They cheered on the learners when they performed and rewarded them for their commitment and performance.

The principal said, “We thank Tshepo and RocoMamas Southgate for their contributions and support. Their kindness meant a great deal to our learners.”

The supporters enjoyed wings, ribs and fresh salads that followed, as well as milkshakes. The excitement grew upon learning that they would also get discount vouchers.

Sadly, due to the upcoming assessment cycle, inter high will not take place this year. However, the disappointment only strengthened the school’s determination.

“All our energy will go into preparing for next year’s inter high. Pressies will be ready, and we are confident that we will make our school proud,” said the principal.
