Global CEO role marks major milestone for Joburg South’s Tandi Potgieter
In a powerful example of homegrown success, Johannesburg South resident Tandi Potgieter steps into the role, bringing world-class experience and a vision set to shape the company’s global expansion.
The Board of iME has announced the appointment of local Eye of Africa resident Tandi Potgieter as CEO, marking a significant step forward in the company’s global expansion strategy as it enters an ambitious new phase of growth.
The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for iME, which continues to evolve as a video technology platform focused on innovation, scalability, and meaningful digital connection across global markets.
Potgieter brings extensive senior leadership and commercial experience across media, technology, retail, and marketing, with a proven track record of building future-focused, scalable businesses and driving strategic growth.
Most recently, she served as CEO of Icarus Media for the past 8 years, leading sustained expansion across integrated marketing, digital innovation, and brand partnerships. Under her leadership, the business strengthened its market position and developed high-performing commercial ecosystems.
Her experience also includes her role as managing director of My Print Bar, where she led the development and rollout of a SaaS-based personalisation and printing platform across a large franchise network and online channels.
This role further strengthened her expertise in technology-led platforms, scalable operating models, and omnichannel distribution strategies.
Earlier in her career, Potgieter held a senior buying role within Harrods’ International division, gaining valuable global experience within one of the world’s most prestigious retail organisations.
As CEO of iME, she will focus on accelerating platform growth, strengthening the company’s global value proposition, and driving expansion through strategic partnerships. Building on iME’s proven case model and established presence in South Africa, she will lead the expansion blueprint across emerging African markets and Europe, Australia, and the United States.
As part of this growth strategy, renowned broadcaster and media executive Carol Tshabalala has been appointed CEO for Africa. Tshabalala will lead the platform’s expansion and consolidation across the continent, while Potgieter directs iME’s broader global activities.
Potgieter is also a strong advocate for inclusive leadership and actively supports women in business through her role as a director of the Women of Stature Awards.
Her appointment coincides with the launch of iME’s refreshed brand direction and new global tagline: Innovate. Monetise. Engage.
These pillars reflect the foundation of the iME platform and its commitment to enabling organisations worldwide to create value through innovation, sustainable monetisation, and meaningful digital engagement.
“We are entering a defining growth chapter for iME,” said iME founder, Nivi Grogor. “Tandi’s leadership, commercial acumen, and global perspective position us strongly to scale our platform and partnerships globally.”
