May grant payment cycle will see all grants paid to beneficiaries
SASSA safeguarding beneficiaries amid administrative changes with Postbank.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has reassured eligible social grant beneficiaries that they will not be adversely affected by Postbank’s recent announcement to discontinue other Postbank services at Post Office branches nationwide.
In a media statement, SASSA CEO Themba Matlou said all systems are ready for the May payment cycle this week.
Payments will start with grants for older persons on May 5, followed by disability grants on May 6, and children’s grants on May 7.
A fourth payment day will be implemented for beneficiaries who missed their usual dates due to grant review processes.
Matlou stressed that SASSA is working to ensure that no deserving beneficiary is negatively affected by administrative changes across agencies.
He added that the agency’s systems are designed to safeguard beneficiaries, improve service delivery, and reduce fraud risks.
SASSA also encouraged beneficiaries to use its eLife Certification online portal for self-service verification at home, rather than visiting offices, as part of ongoing eligibility reviews.
