Shuffling Walking Team invites community for Cancer Awareness Walk

The Shuffling Walking Team celebrates 15 years by hosting a 5km Family Fun Walk for Cancer Awareness, calling on the community to support the cause and help raise funds.

The Shuffling Walking Team is inviting the community to take part in a 5km family fun walk for cancer awareness on July 26 at the Bedfordview Country Club.

This event celebrates 15 years of the organisation’s work in supporting people affected by cancer.

The Shuffling Walking Team is a non-profit organisation that raises funds for cancer charities and also helps people in the community who are living with cancer.

Over the years, funds raised from the walk have supported organisations such as the Breast Health Foundation, Stepping Stone Hospice Alberton, Hospice East Rand, Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Shuffling Walking Team Community Cancer Fund.

The Shuffling Walking Team has supported the Stepping Stone Hospice by hosting annual family fun walks and charity events that raise substantial funds. Since 2012, this group of volunteers has donated hundreds of thousands of rand, often contributing to the hospice’s building fund for new in-patient and children’s palliative care units.

What started as a small group of friends has grown into a strong community movement over the past 15 years.
The team says every step taken, every donation and every person who joins the walk helps bring hope, support and financial help to those fighting cancer.

The 15th annual walk will start at 08:00 with gates opening at 07:00. Entry costs R150.

Participants are encouraged to wear their best pink outfits to show support for cancer awareness.

The event will also include food stalls, entertainment, raffles and an auction, making it a fun day for families and friends.

The Shuffling team are asking for support from the community through sponsorships and donations to help continue their work.
