SASSA urges South Hills residents to turn out in numbers
All major grants and enquiries to be handled at South Rand Recreation Centre.
Residents of South Hills and surrounding areas will have access to South African Social Security Agency services closer to home when SASSA hosts an outreach programme at the South Rand Recreation Centre on May 22.
The event, running from 09:00 to 15:00 at 9 Geneva Road, aims to make grant applications and enquiries more accessible for the community.
SASSA officials will assist with all grant applications, including the older persons grant, disability grant, child support grant, foster child grant, care-dependent grant, war veterans grant, applications for children 0-2 years, and CSG Top Up.
All grant enquiries will also be handled on the day.
The outreach is contingent on strong community turnout.
Residents are urged to inform friends and family and to attend with the necessary documents.
Ward 57 Councillor Faeeza Chame, who helped coordinate the return of SASSA services to the area, welcomed the initiative.
“Bringing SASSA back to South Hills is a win for our community. Many residents struggle with transport costs and long queues to access these essential services. I encourage everyone who needs assistance to come out on 22 May, bring your documents, and spread the word. Your support will ensure SASSA continues to serve us here,” Chame said.
Residents are advised to arrive early and bring identification and supporting documents relevant to their grant applications.
