AACL deserves an accolade

I recently received a call from a distressed Glenanda resident, telling me their Basset Hound, who is still a puppy, had chased something in their garden and had managed to get stuck between a Telkom gum pole and a tree stump.

No matter how much the dog was lifted, it was still stuck. The dog was in this position for ages and we even tried lubricating its neck, with no success.

We eventually called Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) who arrived promptly, with Denton taking a look at the situation. He assessed the dog and could see it was distressed. He had thought of a plan as he had seen this done many times before and said he it was worth a try. Unfortunately it didn’t work and the poor dog was still stuck! We called out a vet to come and sedate the dog. Ruloff arrived and with assistance from Denton, gave the dog a sedative and in minutes managed to free him.

The dog was taken to AACL to be monitored for a while as they were concerned about all the pulling of his neck.

AACL were prompt and professional and monitored the animal throughout his ordeal, keeping the distressed family updated on the situation. What a special team they are. Well done!
