ALBERTON – We are receiving lots of comments concerning the terrible accident on Tuesday.
* I am so thankful I missed this. I left 10 minutes earlier than I normally do that day. I have no doubt that the truck driver must have been going at one helluva speed though. I have had two trucks this size nearly go into the side of me in the last month because they did not look or care who was next to them. It makes me so angry to think another person could cause so much damage just trying to get to their destination two minutes quicker than what it would’ve taken them if they were driving within the speed limit. – Stephanie
* If the truck driver had kept to the correct speed like he was supposed to, he would not have lost control. If what I heard is true, not sure if it is, he should not have speeded up to try and pass the tanker on a downhill. Truck drivers do not take other drivers into consideration. How many of us have had to slam on brakes on the highway when passing a truck not indicating he is changing lanes? How many of us have had to driver over the speed limit just to pass a truck that is supposed to keep a speed limit of 80? At the end of the day it was negligence, not only from the owner not servicing his truck properly, but the driver driving like a maniac. – Lientjie
