Classroom facilities needed

The children reside in various areas in the South, such as Mulbarton, Glenvista, Glenanda, Bassonia, Meyersdal, Aspen and Winchester Hills.

On behalf of the Gujarati community of Johannesburg South, we are trying to set up Gujarati school classes in the area for children aged roughly four years to 12 years old, once a week, for a period of two hours.

The intention is to have classes every Saturday. We would like to have two classrooms in order to split the age groups, with roughly 20 children per classroom. The children reside in various areas in the South, such as Mulbarton, Glenvista, Glenanda, Bassonia, Meyersdal, Aspen and Winchester Hills.

A huge challenge has been the ability to find suitable facilities which we could rent for this purpose. I have approached several schools in the area, but have been told that they do not allow their facilities to be used. I have also approached Rietvlei Farm and Glenvista Country Club, but they unfortunately do not have facilities that are suitable for this purpose.

I would like to appeal to members of the South that may have any useful leads or facilities that we could use, to kindly contact me on 072 635 1962, or email me on deeps@vodamail.co.za.

We believe that such an initiative is desperately needed in our small community, as our culture is rapidly eroding amongst our children, and this is one way of ensuring that they know their cultural background. Any assistance would be highly appreciated.
