Resident wants all to live in harmony

"We must learn to live in harmony. Let us extend a helping hand to those in need. Let us be kind and helpful."

Your article in the COURIER of February 25 about residents of Bellavista and Turffontein protesting, demanding the Nigerians leave the country after a 20-year-old man was killed, allegedly by a Nigerian national.

Our condolences to the family. It is sad for a man to lose his life at such a young age.

I am not pleased at the response of members of the community to demand all Nigerians leave the country. Why blame all for the evil deed of one person?

Countless murders have been committed among our people for centuries. This black-on-black violence has been with us long before foreigners came to our country.

Drugs are being sold by our own people. There are drug lords almost everywhere, and they are the very ones who instigate our people to turn on to the foreigners, blaming them for the sale of drugs.

Drugs are being sold, especially the Nigerians, but our own people are also very involved with the sale of drugs.

There are foreigners in every country in the world where many of our citizens have migrated to.

In South Africa there are so many white, Chinese and Indian people who migrated to our country.

They put up shops, factories, they live wherever they please and yet no one protests against them, but our own, unfortunately, it’s a different story.

I sometimes wonder whether it is jealousy or just ignorance.

We must learn to live in harmony. Let us extend a helping hand to those in need. Let us be kind and helpful.

It is unbelievable how the universe will pour on us its abundant blessings, where all our needs will be met and we will succeed and prosper in whatever we desire or wish to attract.

Health, happiness and abundance will be ours to give and to share and our relationship with our family and fellow being will be happy and joyful and peaceful.
