Smith’s Charity Fight delivers R10 000 boost to youth boxing initiative
Following his Fight Night challenge, Smith gives back to Southern Suburbs Boxing Gym, helping fund programmes that use sport to guide and uplift vulnerable children.
On April 12, Smith took part in the Fight Night 1 charity boxing tournament in support of TeachBeyond South Africa.
The organisation focuses on improving education for under-resourced schools and teachers.
His efforts have now resulted in a generous R10 000 donation to the Southern Suburbs Boxing Gym, where he trained for the fight.
Smith’s relationship with the gym runs deep. “I love this gym because they don’t just train boxers,” he said. “They help underprivileged children through their Fight with Insight programme, which supports kids from broken homes in overcoming emotions like anger and rage, helping them grow emotionally and personally.”
Smith’s journey began last year, when he ran 10km a day for 100 days to raise funds for educational supplies, which were donated to the Khaya Centre. His determination has not wavered, as this year’s challenge involved intense boxing training, and he set his sights on raising R50 000 for TeachBeyondSA.

The R10 000 donation to the boxing gym will support its outreach work, particularly Fight with Insight, which combines boxing with emotional support for at-risk youth.
“It’s a powerful moment,” said Smith. “We’re honoured to donate R10 000 towards Fight with Insight and Southern Suburbs Boxing Gym, two organisations making a real impact through boxing and community development.”
The donation was made possible through the support of the local community and those who backed Smith’s charity fight.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the event, you helped make this possible.”
Smith’s actions remind us all that sport can be more than just competition; it can be a force for good.
