Middleweight boxer Donjuan van Heerden secured a major win at Emperors Palace, defeating Dean Promick to claim the African Boxing Union middleweight title.

Middleweight boxer Donjuan ‘Didi’ van Heerden (24) delivered a commanding performance at Emperors Palace when he secured a victory against Dean Promick for the African Boxing Union middleweight title.

Known for his dedication and resilience, Van Heerden has competed in over 65 amateur fights, recording only two losses, and has won seven national championship titles.

Grit, discipline and a love for the sport drove his transition to the professional scene. It was his devastating body shots and uppercuts that stole the show, each landing with impact and echoing throughout the venue.

His return to the Golden Gloves Titans of Africa card, following a previous defeat on the same platform, marked a significant comeback.

“Donjuan has always had talent, but it’s his work ethic and his refusal to quit that set him apart. This win is the result of years of dedication and the ability to rise through every setback,” said Colleen McAusland, his professional boxing manager.

Van Heerden said the title was just the beginning of what he hopes will be a meaningful legacy in boxing in SA and internationally.
