Cancer walk and parkrun unite at Rietvlei Zoo Farm

The Rietvlei parkrun community held its 532nd event, with a cancer awareness walk and shoe donation adding to the day, while organisers put out a call for more volunteers.

The Rietvlei parkrun community braved cold, wet weather for its 532nd event on October 4.

The event at Rietvlei Zoo Farm welcomed the participants. A cancer awareness walk also took place. Despite the different groups, the day went smoothly, showcasing the parkrun spirit.

Kenton Primary School deserves special mention for donating shoes to support the Discovery Vitality campaign, promoting healthy living among participants.

As the parkrun continues to thrive in Rietvlei, the need for volunteers remains crucial. At least six marshals are required per week to ensure the event’s safety and success.

Those interested in volunteering can email [email protected] with their name, barcode and contact number.
