WATCH: Joburg Blind Football honours excellence in landmark awards night
Players, coaches, and community leaders were honoured for excellence, commitment, and development of the sport.
The Johannesburg Blind Football League Awards took place at Paterson Park in Norwood on November 29.
The awards, the first recognition of excellence in blind football in the region, celebrated the outstanding achievements of players and teams in the sport and marked a historic milestone.
Lifetime achievement awards, recognising dedication and passion for growing the sport in the Joburg south community, were presented to:
• Clr Faezza Chame;
• Nonhlanhla Maboa;
• Superintendent Eugene Buizedenhout;
• The Johannesburg Blind Society.
The big winners of the night included Chinakawu Phendana (female player of the year), Tshwarelo Rapopo (top goal scorer) and Oscar Matimela (player of the season).

Corinthians Africa were crowned the league winners of 2025, with TJ Chitekwe and Jayden Pienaar sharing the coach of the season award.
“I am thrilled for our team,” said coach Jack Msibi of the Corinthians FC.
“This is a testament to their hard work and dedication. We are proud to have been part of this inaugural awards ceremony, and look forward to continuing to grow and develop the sport.
